Transforming Care: Review of Respite Services for People with Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs
Public consultation – 4 September 2017 to 10 November 2017
NHS South Tees Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees Clinical Commissioning Group (‘the CCGs’) have launched a 10-week formal public consultation on proposed changes to respite opportunities for people with complex needs, learning disabilities and/or autism.
The consultation, which will run from Monday 4 September 2017 to Friday 10 November 2017 follows a joint review of health respite services for people with learning disabilities and complex needs, and their families and carers, across Teesside. Further information is available below.
The consultation is in line with the national and regional ‘Transforming Care’ agenda, looking at how people with learning disabilities and their families and carers can use a bigger range of different types of services, closer to where they live. Importantly, there should be less reliance on services that are provided within hospital, making sure there are good services available in the community.
The CCGs have produced a number of documents to help people understand the background to the consultation, and offer opportunities to take part in the consultation. This includes completing a survey, or attending a public meeting. Please see below for further information. If you have any queries about the consultation, please contact the Communications and Engagement team on 0191 374 2795 or email email@example.com.

The CCGs worked in partnership with the four Local Authorities across the South Tees and Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees areas to ensure that the review considered complex health and social care needs.
The aim of the review is to ensure that health respite services appropriately meet the needs of the local population now and into the future and it was carried out in the context of the Transforming Care programme.
