Coronavirus: Government advice for vulnerable people on shielding
Coronavirus: What does shielding mean?
The Government is contacting the most vulnerable NHS patients to COVID-19 with guidance and information on ‘shielding’. Here's some more information to help you understand what shielding means in practice.
At the end of March, the Government wrote to around 1.5 million of the most vulnerable NHS patients by letter, with guidance and information on ‘shielding’.
GPs and hospital consultants have now been asked to review the initial list and over the next week will be ensuring all those in high risk categories are identified and informed about the action they should be taking to stay safe.
Those contacted are strongly advised to rigorously follow the guidance, which includes staying at home at all times for at least 12 weeks.
