Provision of NHS dental services - Billingham
Queensway Dental Practice in Billingham decided to stop providing NHS dental care from the end of March 2018.
NHS England is responsible for securing provision of NHS dental services to meet the needs of the local population and appreciate that the decision by Queensway to stop providing NHS dental care may have caused some concern, however NHS England would like to reassure patients that there are other NHS dental practices in the surrounding areas accepting NHS patients.
The following information has been provided by NHS England for patient information:
Unlike when you access your GP, there is no patient registration for dental services. This means that you are free to access dental care from any NHS provider who has capacity available to undertake treatment.
To assist with access, help minimise waiting times and avoid paying unnecessary patient charges (where applicable*), it would be helpful If you could wait until your next routine appointment is due before contacting an NHS dental practice.
Should you require urgent and emergency dental treatment you should ring 111.
To help you find a new NHS dentist, we have included a list of all practices within the surrounding areas who have advised that they have capacity to take on new patients. This includes practices from whom we have commissioned additional capacity as a short term measure whilst we undertake a procurement process to secure long term provision in Billingham.

NHS England is committed to ensuring that patients have access to NHS dental services, and will continue to work with NHS dental providers in the area to maintain access for patients whilst we undertake a procurement process to secure longer term dental provision within the Billingham area.
